If you’re a regular reader of RockStar Machine, you’ve probably noticed that we aren’t as focused on getting signed as we are on building a following. That’s because we believe that building a following is the most important thing you can do to make anything happen in your music career. Record labels want proven bands.
That said, you may still feel the need to try and get signed to a major label the old fashioned way. Here’s an article that does a pretty good job of summing up what you’ll want to do. Keep in mind that this method really is a long shot. The odds are working against you when you try to break in this way, but if you’ve been consistent with playing and getting exposure, the chances of this working get a little better.
Remember, there are better things that you can do with your time like writing songs, booking shows, promoting your gigs, etc. There are, however, 24 hours in the day and if you really feel that you must try to get signed in this way, go ahead. Just don’t let it interfere with everything else that you should be doing.
