For those of you that weren’t aware Hilly Kristal, founder of the legendary New York punk club CBGB, passed away on Tuesday. While the news of his death is already two days old, we just thought it was right to do a post as a tribute to his memory. If you’ve ever had the opportunity to go or play at to CBGB, you know that it was a special place. It was a dive bar, make no mistake, but the amount of American music history that had taken place in that dive bar was legend.

It was sad to see the club have to close its doors last year, and it’s sad that its owner had to check out so soon after. Even now, it’s still hard to walk past the spot where the club was and not miss it.

Our condolences go out to Kristal’s family in this difficult time. Thank you Hilly Krystal for all that you’ve done, you will be missed.
