Well, if you’ve read much of this blog you know that I push the promotion end of the business. You also have probably found that I am not a huge fan of the record companies, because the need for a record company is diminishing by the day.

So, I found a link to a music promotion course that features a long bit of sales copy stating much of what I preach. Now, I’m not endorsing this course; mainly because I haven’t actually taken it, but I think the copy is worth a read.

If there’s one thing I’ve noticed it is that people seem to like a second opinion. If this helps to sway you to the dark side then so much the better. The point here is that
you need to understand the paradigm shift that’s going on and get in the position to take advantage of it. While I’m not fan of sensational clams (yet another reason I’m not endorsing this program), there is still a message that you need to her. So check out the copy and think it over.

…and if you do buy this course and there’s something to it let me know and I’ll look into it.

Disclosure/Update

As you can see from the comments section, I did in fact receive access to this course and several other courses on Mark Joyner’s Simpleology site, which are still available to me to this day.  I have not received any further compensation beyond access to these courses from Mr. Joyner or his associated companies.  While I have reviewed the course personally, I have no intention of posting any further coverage of the course on this site.  Please note that I DID NOT receive access to these courses prior to writing the original post and the original post was merely a link to the product’s ad copy, which contains comments about the music industry and Independent music that I happen to agree with. The course, however is not endorsed by myself or RockStar Machine, LLC.

I looked over what is offered and I doubt that it is worthwhile to take the course as most of that information is available for free online if anyone just researched it. In fact what I would suggest is copy the sections and research each title to get the information for yourself. Then customize your own promotion plan.

Hey RSM Admin, I’ve asked our Customer Care Team Leader to contact you and give you access to the promo course and some other stuff you might enjoy as well.

You’re damn right that the game is changing – and fast. The indie player has more of a chance to make it big now than ever before. Until the government comes in and starts regulating the net (I think we need to take just about all means necessary to prevent that) it’s only going to get better.

The time of pure digital is coming near and the day of the pure Indie superstar is not far behind.

Netvalar, you’re probably right! That is, you can find just about any info on anything for free on the net now. (A fact I love.) It’s a matter of available time and learning experience. Knowing that info is pretty freely available these days on the net, our Simpleology courses are designed to present the information in the most easily assimilatable and actionable format. It’s also a matter of time. Compare the cost of something to the time it will take you to gather it yourself, then to formulate a clear plan.

This particular course probably won’t show many seasoned pros many chops (except perhaps our best-seller tactics, which are simple but little-used in the music biz), but for a beginner at the promotion game I think this will radically cut down the learning curve.

Of course I’m biased, but we have over 250,000 customers/fans and we take their feedback seriously and are constantly improving what we do. I’d love to get that kind of feedback from you, too.

    MJ

Well I took another look at this based on Mark’s comment above. I can say from my interactions on couple of forums and my own readers that the time issue and assimilation of new information is worth the price of $97. Where I can do the research and assimilate it for my readers it would be piece meal and not neccesarily at the right learning curve. Whereas having access to the lessons (which I do agree are worhtwhile lessons at this time) and going through them at your own pace is invaluable. Along with that if the bonus reports in regards to video production is good enough then this is fast becoming even more valuable of a promo tool online. I hope that Rockstar will write up any findings he comes up with from the course so that I can base that on a decision to look further into myself.
